HMD Global launches Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1; pre-sale for the Nokia 3.1 starts today

Shannon Mead, HMD Global Philippines country manager: “At HMD Global, innovation means merging premium quality with affordability and accessibility. The Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 are just two of the breakthroughs we are proud to bring to the Filipinos, with the design and technology upgrade for even better mobile experience.”

HMD Global has announced the availability of Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 3.1, priced at Php 5,990 and Php9,990 respectively, starting August 29.

The launch of the new smartphones targeting the budget-conscious consumers reflects on the brand’s intention to capture the mass market.

Nokia’s comeback has been highlighted by the introduction of resurrected feature phones and mid-range to flagship Android smartphones–the latter handsets offering all the big features both in camera and internal hardware specs and premium designs.

This time around, the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1 somehow complete the lineup of Nokia offerings.

Of the two new Nokias, the Nokia 3.1 has the premium finish—anodised machined metal frame and sculpted glass display. The sides has striking metal accents matched with dual diamond cuts.

Similar to the trend in new flagship models of Android handsets in the market today, the Nokia 3.1 features an 18:9 screen ratio. The smartphone packs a 5.2 inch HD+ display protected by a curved Corning Gorilla Glass. For its size, it is quite comfortable to hold and just the right size for single-handed use to enjoy the functions.

Underneath, the Nokia packs an oct-core MediaTek 6750 chip (MediaTek Helio P10). It features a 13MP auto focus rear camera and 8MP wide-angle front camera.

It also runs on the Android One, which offers more storage and battery life out of the box as well as the latest AI-powered innovations from Google.

The Nokia 3.1 will receive three years of monthly security patches and two years of OS updates as guaranteed in the Android One program. This puts the new Nokia 3.1 among the most-secure phones out there, always up-to-date with the latest Google services such as Google Assistant and Google Photos with free unlimited high-quality photo storage.

The affordably-priced Nokia 2.1 features 4000 mAH battery that can last for two days. Its 5.5-inch HD screen and dual front-facing stereo speakers make it ideal for entertainment use.

Under the hood, the Nokia 2.1 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 64-bit mobile platform. The back camera is an 8MP snapper with autofocus, while the front camera is 5MP.

It runs on Android Oreo (Go Edition) and features a range of apps from Google designed to run faster while consuming less data.
