WD has announced its Plex Media Server entertainment app can now be downloaded to and deployed on the My Cloud NAS series.

Plex organizes video, music and photos from personal media libraries and streams them to smart TVs, streaming boxes and mobile devices. The app allows you to stream your media to your devices, such as your Mac, PC, smartphone, tablet, Xbox, PlayStation, Smart TV, Roku, Chromecast, and soon TiVo. Whether it’s your movie and TV collection, or your music library, Plex makes your media beautiful by automatically adding movie posters, plot summaries, cover art, and descriptions. Plex also allows you to share your home video, photo, music, and movie collections with your friends and family.

WD is committed to furthering its apps capabilities on its My Cloud product line up. The series of products will now be equipped with an array of Plex features, including:
•    Stream supported file formats directly from your personal My Cloud (models: My Cloud Mirror, My Cloud EX2/EX4, My Cloud EX2100/EX4100 and My Cloud DL2100/4100) to any Plex app
•    World class DLNA support built right in to the app
•    Effortlessly sharing media amongst family and friends
•    One simple interface to organize all of your media
