iPhone upgrade for loyal subscribers
Smart also offers “Wipe Out” option to subscribers who wish to upgrade to the new iPhone offers. Subscribers currently within an active contract may choose to wipe out their existing contract for a discounted fee, without the need to surrender their existing device. Up to 75% can be deducted from the applicable fee.
They will also receive free one-year device insurance with Smart Gadget Shield which covers loss, theft and accidental damage, in addition to discounts on iPhone accessories from partner establishments.
To check if your current Smart Postpaid account is qualified for Wipeout, text WIPEOUT to 2928. For more details on the Wipe Out Program, go to www.smart.com.ph/wipeout.
Select Smart stores also offer device trade-in deals where subscribers can swap their old phones with iPhone vouchers. This offer is available at the Smart Store in Rockwell, Robinsons Magnolia, SM North EDSA, Festival Mall and Jump Megamall.
Smart began offering the iPhone in 2011 and the day it was officially released by the company was marked by a huge promotional activity, where the first batch of owners received gifts of high-priced gadgets from Smart.
The day was also remembered as the first time the telco had the whole of Rockwell Mall rented out for a whole night of party, games and raffle for Smart customers.
But because of the recent tragedy (typhoon Yolanda’s aftermath), Smart opted for a simpler iPhone promo blitz as the company is still focused on restoring signals in the affected areas and helping out in relief aid, according to Smart head for public affairs Mon Isberto.
Smart will be deploying help through organizations. For example, iPhone pick-up point in Eastwood will also be graced by the presence of Unicef staff to solicit aid and spread information.
