Buffalo MiniStation Portable Hard Drive features Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 interfaces

Buffalo MiniStation Portable Hard Drive: At last, a portable storage solution with both Thunderbolt and USB 3.0

Buffalo Technology has announced the availability in the Philippines of the Buffalo MiniStation Thuderbolt/USB Portable Hard Drive, the world’s first portable Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 dual-interface external drive solution.

Buffalo is a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking and network and direct attached storage solutions.

The Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt / USB Portable Hard Drive is ideal for PC and Mac users looking for the fastest interface speeds while preserving backward compatibility with existing devices that support USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

An Intel technology introduced first in Macbook laptop, Thunderbolt may soon be adopted widely by Windows-based PCs increasing the demand for Thunderbolt-ready devices.

Thunderbolt combines PCI Express and DisplayPort into a serial data interface that can be carried over longer and less costly cables. A single Thunderbolt port supports hubs as well as a daisy chain of up to seven Thunderbolt devices; up to two of these devices may be displays using DisplayPort.

In addition, existing Mini DisplayPort adapters for DVI, dual-link DVI, HDMI, and VGA are compatible with Thunderbolt, allowing backwards compatibility and no loss of functionality.

“Creating, storing and moving digital content on the go has always been a challenging proposal for all types of users as either the interface was incompatible or too slow or the storage solution was physically too large,” said Brian Verenkoff, director of marketing at Buffalo Technology.

“Collaborating with Intel to deliver the world’s first dual-interface Thunderbolt and USB storage solution as well as the world’s first portable Thunderbolt hard drive reaffirms Buffalo’s pioneering spirit and engineering excellence.”

Housed in a sleek aluminum body with a transparent frosted top, the MiniStation Thunderbolt features an indirect disk access LED indicator on the underside that tastefully illuminates its supporting surface.

Bus-powered, the HDD requires no additional power supply, and it can be formatted to support both PCs and Macs, making it a great portable storage solution for any device.

Compatibility with Mac OS X Time Machine also makes the Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt / USB Portable Hard Drive an ideal solution for backup with Mac computers.

“Thunderbolt delivers unparalleled performance, flexibility and simplicity to personal computing,” said Jason Ziller, Intel’s director of Thunderbolt marketing, “Products like the Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt / USB Portable Hard Drive help highlight what Thunderbolt makes possible.”

The Buffalo MiniStation Thunderbolt / USB Portable Hard Drive is the first to couple the ubiquitous 5 Gbps super speed USB 3.0 port for legacy support with the 10 Gbps Thunderbolt technology developed by Intel to deliver maximum interface speeds and compatibility.

Consumers can now move digital content faster, simplify connections between devices, maintain compatibility with nearly any device and foster new and exciting ways to use portable storage.

The Buffalo Thunderbolt MiniStation is available in 500GB and 1TB priced at PhP8,900 and PhP10,000, respectively. For availability and other product info, please contact MSI-ECS at 6883180-84 or email marketing@msi-ecs.com.ph
